Falcons finish season with 21-12-6 record

Air Force finished the 2007-08 season with a 21-12-6 overall record. The Falcons won the Atlantic Hockey Association championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the second straight season. Air Force finished third in the AHAwith a 14-9-5 record. The Falcons were the third seed in the AHATournament. AFAswept Bentley in the quarterfinals, then defeated RITin the semifinals before edging fifth-seeded Mercyhurst, 5-4, in double overtime.

Volkening and Burnett earn AHA Monthly Awards

Air Force goaltender Andrew Volkening and right winger Derrick Burnett earned AHA Monthly Awards for March. Volkening earned goalie of the month honors while Burnett was named the rookie of the month.

Eric Ehns penalty shot in the Skills Competition

Ehn Named Top Performer at Skills Competition

Air Force senior Eric Ehn was named the West Team's Top Performer at the NCAA Frozen Four Skills Challenge at the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colo., Friday, April 11. Ehn led the West Team to a 13-6 win over the East Team in the third annual competition as part of the "Friday Night at the Frozen Four".

Schiavone named to Lowe's Senior Class All-America Team

Air Force Academy senior defenseman Frank Schiavone was named to the Lowe's Senior CLASS All-America Team. Schiavone was one of 10 finalists for the award, which was presented to Princeton's Landis Stankievech. Schiavone was named to the Lowe's All-America second team, marking the second consecutive season Air Force has had a Lowe's All-American. Billy Devoney, a 2007 Academy graduate, was on the team last season. [+]

Senior Matt Charbonneau earned two major awards and sophomore goaltender Andrew Volkening was named the team MVP at the annual Air Force Hockey Awards Banquet, Sunday, April 6, at the Garden of the Gods Club. [+]

Ehn to compete in NCAA Skills Competition on ESPNU

Air Force senior Eric Ehn has been selected to compete in the third annual NCAA Frozen Four Skills Competition at Pepsi Center in Denver, Friday, April 11. Ehn is the most decorated hockey player in school history. A 2007 All-American and Hobey Baker Hat Trick finalist, he concluded his career with 146 points in 133 career games. A native of Dexter, Mich., Ehn missed 14 games from Jan. 19-March 17 with a leg injury this season. He returned to the lineup in the NCAA Northeast Regional and played vs. second-ranked Miami. [+]

Three Falcons earn player of week honors from Atlantic Hockey

Three Air Force Falcons earned player of the week honors from the Atlantic Hockey Association as a result of the team's performance at the NCAA Northeast Regional in Worcester, Mass., March 29. Fourth-seeded Air Force took top-seeded Miami (the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament) into overtime, before falling, 3-2. Andrew Volkening was named the goalie of the week, Josh Print was the player of the week and Derrick Burnett was the rookie of the week. [+]

Volkening named to NCAA Regional all-tournament team

Air Force goaltender was named to the all-tournament team at the NCAA Northeast Regional in Worcester, Mass., March 30. Volkening becomes Air Force's first player in school history to be named to an NCAA Regional all-tourney team. He made 30 saves in the game vs. top-seeded Miami and made numerous spectacular saves in the game. His stick save on a shot by Jarod Palmer in the second period was named the No. 1 Play of the Day on ESPN, March 29. [+]

Miami's Justin Mercier scored with just under five minutes remaining in overtime to lift the top-seeded RedHawks past fourth-seeded Air Force, 3-2, in the semifinals of the NCAA Northeast Regional at the DCU Center, Saturday, March 29 in Worcester, Mass. [+]
