Greg Stine Named MVP as Falcons Hand Out Team Awards

The Air Force men's gymnastics program handed out its 2008 team awards at the annual end-of-season banquet earlier this week (April 30). Senior All-American Greg Stine was the top award-winner, being named the Most Valuable Player. In addition, three other Falcons received recognition from head coach Kip Simons.

Kip Simons Named NCAA West Region Coach of the Year

Air Force men's gymnastics coach Kip Simons was named the NCAA West Region Coach of the Year at the awards presentation that runs in conjunction with the 2008 NCAA Championships in Palo Alto, Calif. It is the second such distinction of the year for Simons, as he was also named the USAG Coach of the Year in late March.

Air Force Places Three on MPSF All-Academic Team

Three members of the Air Force men's gymnastics team were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation's All-Academic Team, the league commissioner announced this morning (April 22). Senior Brian Boardman, junior Jacob Schonig and sophomore Brennan Wolford were the Falcons' representatives on the all-academic squad.

Greg Stine Claims Two All-America Certificates

Backed by top-eight finishes on the still rings and in the all-around at this past weekend's NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships, Air Force senior Greg Stine claimed NCAA All-America status. In addition to becoming the program's first All-American since 1993, he is the Academy's first-ever recipient of multiple NCAA certificates. [+]

Greg Stine Places Sixth on Rings in NCAA Finals

In his final collegiate performance, Air Force senior Greg Stine scored a 15.300 to place sixth on the still rings during the individual event finals of the 2008 NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships on Saturday, April 19. With that placement, Stine earned his second top-eight finish of the three-day national meet in Palo Alto, Calif. [+]

Senior Greg Stine picked up a seventh-place finish in the all-around as he represented the Air Force men's gymnastics team during the second day of action at the 2008 NCAA Championships on Friday, April 18, in Palo Alto, Calif. Going up against some of the top gymnasts in the nation, Stine recorded a combined score of 86.800. [+]

Greg Stine Advances to NCAA All-Around Finals

Senior Greg Stine posted a fourth-place performance of 87.200 in the all-around at the NCAA National Qualifier on Thursday, April 17, in Palo Alto, Calif. As the top all-arounder not a part of an advancing team, Stine earned the right to advance to the all-around finals of the NCAA Championships, which will be held tomorrow night. [+]

Six Falcons Head to NCAA Championships

Six members of the Air Force track and field team will close out the season at the 2008 NCAA Championships this week (April 17-19) in Palo Alto, Calif. Action begins on Thursday, April 17, with a pair of national qualifying sessions. The top teams and individuals will advance to the team and event finals on Friday-Saturday, April 18-19. Greg Stine Claims Another CGA Award

Air Force senior Greg Stine was named Gymnast of the Week (USAG Division) by the College Gymnastics Association for the week ending April 7. The award, which is voted on by the men's gymnastics coaches, is the sixth such career honor for Stine and the third of the season. He shared the weekly CGA award with Penn State's Casey Sandy, who earned the award for the NCAA Division. [+]
