Multi-Event Athletes Conclude Day One of MWC Meet

The 2008 Mountain West Conference Track and Field Championships got underway this afternoon (Wednesday, May 14) for four members of the Air Force program. Three decathletes and one heptathlete took part in the first half of their respective events at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex in Fort Worth, Texas.

Falcons Prepare for MWC Championships

After a week off from competition, the Air Force track and field team travels to Fort Worth, Texas, for the 2008 Mountain West Conference Championships. The meet will run May 14-17 at the Lowdon Track and Field Complex on the campus of TCU. The four-day competition, featuring six men's teams and nine women's teams, begins at noon on Wednesday with the multi-events.

Pounds and Korte Shine in WCAP Competitions

Dana Pounds and Olivia Korte, two former Academy track and field standouts, competed in separate events this weekend as a part of the Air Force World Class Athlete Program (WCAP). Pounds competed in the javelin at the Oregon Invitational, while Korte participated at the Hartnell Throwers Meet in Salinas, Calif.

Air Force Men Win First-Ever Front Range Invitational

Backed by seven first-place victories and 12 additional top-three finishes, the Air Force men's track and field team won the inaugural Front Range Invitational on Saturday, May 3, in Laramie, Wyo. The Air Force track and field team will travel to Laramie, Wyo., for the first-ever Front Range Invitational on Saturday, May 3. The Falcons will face MWC foes Colorado State and Wyoming, as well as local competition from Colorado and Northern Colorado. The meet will begin at 10 a.m., with the women's javelin and hammer throws, as well as the men's shot put. [+]

Highlighted by four first-place finishes, the Air Force track and field team wrapped up competition at the Jack Christiansen Invitational on Saturday, April 26, in Fort Collins, Colo. With three top-five finishes in seven events, the Air Force track and field team completed the second day of competition at the Drake Relays on Friday, April 25, in Des Moines, Iowa. Highlighted by four top-10 finishes in the 5000- and 10,000-meter races, the Air Force track and field team concluded the first day of action at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa.
