National Fencing Championships

The Air Force Academy had three fencers compete in the 2008 North American Cup "F" Division I National Championships in Portland, Ore., April 25-28. Senior Eliza Enyart, a native of Bend, Ore., finished 39th among 50 women epee fencers. Sophomore Peter French, a sophomore from Austin, Texas, finished 41st among 58 in the men's epee competition. Freshman Nick Stockdale (Landsdowne, Pa.) finished 37th among 43 in the men's foil event.

AFA's Peter French finished 51st in Junior World Championships

Air Force Academy fencer Peter French competed in the 2008 Junior World Championships, April 6-14, in Acireale, Italy. As the No. 2 man on the three-member junior epee team, French finished in 51st place among 130 fencers. The USA team of Jonathan Yergler, French and James Hawrot finished 12th among 31 teams.

AFA Fencer will travel to Italy for 2008 Junior World Championships

USAF Academy, Colo. - Air Force Academy fencer Peter French will travel to Acireale, Italy, to compete in the 2008 Junior World Championships, April 6-14. French earned his spot on the team after winning the men's individual epee gold medal at the Junior World Cup in Basel, Switzerland in January and winning the championship at the 2008 Junior Olympics in February in Charlotte, N.C. The national title earned him the No. 2 spot on the junior world team.

Former AFA fencer gets a Stamp of recognition

Academy grad, Capt Seth Kelsey's (class of 2003) participation in the 2004 Olympics has been commemorated on a stamp issued by the Republic of Benin. The stamp which commemorates the upcoming Olympic Games honors the different sports and the fencing stamp pictures Kelsey from the 2004 Olympics. Also pictured on the stamps are several Disney cartoon characters. [+]

AFA's Peter French earned NCAA All-American honors

U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo. - Air Force Academy fencer Peter French earned NCAA All-American honors on Sunday at the NCAA Fencing Championship in Columbus, Ohio. He finished in sixth-place in men's epee. French, a sophomore from Austin, Texas, was in fifth place following Saturday's rounds 1-4. He finished the tournament with 14 victories. [+]

Young Falcons did not fare well at NACs

The Air Force Academy fencers traveled to Rosemont, Ill., to compete in the North American Cup "E" Division II and III tournament on March 7-10. Only two freshmen, Curtis Christensen and Lantz Balthazar finished in the top 50 in Division III. Christensen from Los Alamos, N.M., was the Falcons' top performer. Christensen finished 21st among the 147 men's individual foil competitors. AFA's other highest finisher, Balthazar, from Niceville, Fla., finished 44th in men's individual epee. [+]

Two Fencers Qualify for NCAAs

Two Air Force Academy fencers qualified for the 2008 NCAA Men's and Women's Fencing Championships. AFA sophomore Peter French and freshman Daniel Trapani both qualified for the NCAAs Sunday afternoon at the Western Regional Fencing Championships at Cal State Fullerton, March 2. Young Falcons Look To The Future

Lincoln, Neb. -- The rifle team failed to qualify anyone at the NCAA Qualifier at the University of Nebraska, shooting against Nebraska's "Scarlett" and "Cream" teams. "There's no question that this has been a transition year for our team," said first-year head coach Launi Meili. "I am very pleased with the progress this team has shown throughout the season.
